When sailing with family and friends, familiarity in first aid knowledge can save lives in medical emergencies. This one-day course teaches skippers and small craft users first aid.
The RYA First Aid At Sea Course covers all basic first aid topics but focuses on yachts and boats and boating situations. It targets boaters on inland waters, rivers, estuaries, and channel passages.
It meets the requirements for cat C commercial first aid kits for: Professional skippers of small craft working within 60 miles of a safe haven, Coastal Skipper, Yachtmaster, and Advanced Powerboat competency certifications, as well as some requirements for commercial work afloat on small craft up to 24m. It includes Boatmasters and the Senior First Aid certificate needed by offshore racers subject to ISAF's first aid training regulations (OSR 4.08.4).
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and the Health and Safety Executive have both approved the RYA First Aid Course (HSE). The certificate lasts three years.
It is a Channel Sailing Club discounted rate of £69.00, down from the list price of £120.00 and places are available for Sunday 26th November 2023 at the Ashtead Cricket Club from 10.00am to 5.30pm.
