  • A course and exam for anyone who owns a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio.

Registration is closed

RYA Marine Radio SCR Course and Test is designed to provide you the knowledge and practical skills you need to operate a VHF marine radio with confidence. You will learn proper radio practises, channel and frequency usage, and how to use the emergency channels and make distress calls.  This is also a refresher on how to use DSC for those that passed the course many years ago.

You will receive hands-on experience operating a VHF radio in a variety of circumstances with the help of our skilled teachers. You will also get to practise utilising the Digital Selective Calling (DSC) system, which may be used to send distress signals and request help.

You will take the RYA Marine Radio SCR Exam at the end of the course, which will assess your knowledge and practical skills. If you pass, you will be awarded the internationally recognised Short Range Certificate (SRC), which is required for everyone who operates a VHF radio including Dayskipper qualifications and above.

Don't pass up this chance to improve your boating safety and communication abilities. Register now for our RYA Marine Radio SCR Course and Test!

It is a Channel Sailing Club discounted rate of £130.00, down from the list price of £145.00 plus the RYA examination fee of £60.  Places are available for Saturday 13th May 2023 at Warspite Scout hall, Cunliffe Road, Stoneleigh, Surrey KT19 0RJ  from 09.30am to 5.30pm.
