For novices wanting to know more before going cruising or racing

If you are new to sailing, this talk is ideal to show how a yacht harnesses the wind. Best to look at it in the comfort of the club bar before you are out of the water! This short talk covers:

• The basic principles of sail power
• Where the wind comes from and how we can harness it with a sail
• The parts of the yacht that are important
• What is involved in Tacking (changing direction driving into the wind)
• Gybing (changing direction driving away from the wind)
• How to get a feel for wind direction.

Starts at 8:00pm in the clubhouse and given by Ken Fifield - Chief Instructor.
