Description: RYA Day Skipper Theory Course:

Want enough nautical know-how to navigate around familiar waters by day? Would you like to understand charts, plot a course to steer and know if its going to be sunny or raining on a forthcoming sailing trip? If so, this fantastic course is aimed at you.

The Channel Sailing Club is teaching this comprehensive introduction to cruising over five Sundays this autumn at the bargain price of £270 for members.

“This is the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) certified shore based classroom course that teaches the basic theory required to take the RYA yacht based practical day skipper qualification.  Ideal if you need the qualification for a flotilla holiday or to charter a yacht."

The course takes place at our club house at Ashtead Cricket Club and is lead by RYA instructor and CSC member Ken Fifield.

It covers the basics of seamanship, coastal navigation and pilotage, weather, tides and collision regulations.

Dates are  November 3, 10, 17 and 24, December 1 and 8.  The class will run from 10am to 5pm each day.

The cost includes RYA supplied training materials. Candidates will be expected to provide Breton plotters and dividers.

Non-club members are welcome but are asked to pay a £30 annual joining fee which gives access to all club events for a year. Non-members should contact Ken Directly

Places are strictly limited so please apply early to secure your place.
